There is a more sustainable, more effective, and more uplifting way to meet your goals than just relying on drive and discipline.
You have ambitious and meaningful goals that you want to reach or you have big ambitious goals that you want to lead a team in reaching. You want to:
Finally get that promotion to director, VP, team lead, or the C-Suite.
Revamp your team’s culture to one that inspires creativity, safety, collaboration, and productivity.
Take the lead on a project that you can truly feel proud of because you created something amazing, innovative, and authentic.
Implement exciting strategies that could have lasting impacts and be your legacy at your organization.
Most of the mindsets you have about how to get that done probably center: discipline and clear planning, working hard, pushing through fear and challenges, staying laser-focused, overcoming obstacles and staying consistent, and not stopping until it is done. The leadership examples and architypes you have seen have prioritized effectiveness, avoiding vulnerability, and squeezing productivity out of themselves and others.
You want to lead and do amazing things but you know doing it this way is just not you. There is a better way.
These mindsets and ways of being can be effective for a while and for a certain type of leader but the sides effects are.
Burnout, blocked creativity, disconnection, miscommunication, a limit on what your team can achieve, and a career and leadership journey you ultimately don’t enjoy.
If you want to pursue ambitious goals sustainably, effectively, and with clarity (and lead others in doing so) you have to go beyond habits and do the inner work.
Learn to lead with emotional intelligence and attunement, get a deep understanding of what it takes to manage your energy, discover who you are as a leader, clarify your values and motivations, and identify the beliefs that are getting in the way of progress, and pursue those goals and your leadership journey with confidence.
It all comes down to how your nervous system is wired!
When we are pursuing ambitious goals we want to be moving from a place of wisdom, logic, planning, peace, motivation, and energy (aka out Rational/ Thinking Brain)
But when we force ourselves into unnatural rhythms of work, ignore our needs, prize production and not emotional intelligence and attunement, and push ourselves without addressing the beliefs and mindsets that are holding us back, we often activate our survival brain. Instead of operating from that place of wisdom and logic we are operating from a desperate need to protect ourselves, escape crisis mode as quickly as possible, and find safety.
This is where I come in!
My name is Lauren!
I am a management and leadership coach, licensed therapist, consultant, corporate trainer, and recovering perfectionist.
I spent the first part of my career climbing the ladder for social worker, to program coordinator, to program manager, to non-profit director with a lot of tenacity and almost constant struggle. I was operating from my survival mind: achieving goals, exhausted, constantly operating out of alignment with values, and always swinging between my empathic side and my planning/doing side without knowing how to bring them together.
So much of this exhaustion was nervous system dysregulation. Basically the way that I was living, engaging with work, and engaging with those around me was communicating to my body that I was in a threatening or dangerous situation. From small practices like skipping lunch, never staying hydrated, and going for hours without taking a break for stretching, grounding practices, or relaxation skills to larger practices like having a truly open door policy that resulted in constant interruptions or not scheduling int he type of time I needed to debrief from meetings or think.
Using the tools I discovered through my training as a therapist, researching somatic work, and accumulating lots of information on leadership and management systems I found another way and now I specialize in helping other women do the same!
The Process
Get Clarity
Through assessments and exercises we clarify your core values, the things that most inspire you, and we get a sense of your ideal leadership style, the leadership architypes you have experienced and how they are influencing your current ways of pursuing ambitious goals and leading, and we get to know the state of your nervous system and what parts of your mind your are most and least comfortable operating from. We then turn this information into clear goals that give us a sense of exactly what you want to achieve by the end of our time working together. We also explore all the identities that matter to you (gender, racial, ethnic, cultural, familial, spiritual, affinities, communities, etc.) and how they play into your process of pursuing your goals.
Work with Blocking and Limiting Beliefs
All those beliefs that have been keeping you stuck? I help you to identify and transform them while create new, more intentional, processes for making big and small decisions that allow you to choose based on your values instead of your fears and leaves room for using your wisdom and deeper knowledge.
Create a Sustainable Rhythm + Regulate Your Nervous System
Reaching ambitious goals requires a good mix of endurance and ease. I help you create a system and practices for managing your time and energy, embrace the needs for rest and creative/ thinking space that comes with being an empath, and share that rhythm with others.
Communicate Fully, Connect with Emotional Intelligence, Create Boundaries
One of the most common challenges I hear from clients is "I am a kind/ compassionate/ caring person but I don’t always know how to bring that into my work without being taken advantage of.” I teach you how to create meaningful working connection with colleagues, mentors, sponsors, and the people that you lead and communicate effectively while still creating and maintaining boundaries. I support you in practices that help you to find your voice as a leader, one that is authentic and true to you but also strategic and sustainable.
Navigate the Corporate World with Ease and Alignment
You may not be able to control everything that makes the corporate world challenging and sometimes even painful but you can befriend your nervous system and understand what helps you to find regulation so you can navigate those challenges with greater ease. I help you to learn to bring together you logic, intuition, and emotional wisdom to make decisions you feel really good about and that are so aligned that you feel confident in your ability to handle the outcomes. I also support you in finding your own unique strategies for navigating challenge dynamics with the people you lead or supervise or the people who lead you.
